Bardot seemed like a maze, with different rooms at each turn. The woman at the door was fantastic. It truly was a scene to see.

Are You Ready? Mr. Black LA Opens Next Week

Truth be told, Los Angeles is a sunny place, where everyone seems to be smiling. The liquor flows, you can pretty much get WHATEVER you need (trust me), and it's like a never ending vacation. And yet, there is still something inside of me, pinching, smacking at me to remember New York. 7 weeks left. 7 weeks until I'm back in Chelsea. 7 weeks until I'm drawing sticks on my face again.

And my wishing and pleading with the universe finally paid off. That universal want and need met me half way. In just one week, one September 15th, Mr. Black LA opens up at Bardot! It's not perfect, but it's something. I'll be able to dust off my boots, throw on my shoulder pads, have a few shots of tequila and hit the scene. It's from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., which again, is not perfect, but it's something.

wendy apolagizes to ericka-toure aviance

Wendy Williams producer apologizes for offending Drag Queen.

I'm sure it isn't the five minutes of fame that drag queen Ericka Toure Aviance was hoping for, but the producer of the Wendy Williams Show have apologized for offending her during a taping of the show.

Everyone knows I love Wendy Williams, and I think she's the closest thing to a drag queen that a woman can be. Recently, New York draggie Ericka Toure Aviance showed up for a taping of an episode dressed a little too flamboyantly. When asked to move out of the shot of the cameras, Ericka felt discriminated against.

Now, Wendy's producers have apologized.

“Much of the success of The Wendy Williams Show is due to our incredibly diverse and colorful audience and we all agree that fashion is a true form of self expression. But in an attempt to explain and enforce our show’s dress code, I was not as sensitive as I could have been to Ericka, the LGBT community or drag’s long history of being a target of discrimination. And for that, I sincerely apologize as it was never my intention to offend in any way,” said a statement from Lonnie Burstein, Executive Vice President, Programming & Production, Debmar-Mercury.

Some gay media outlets suggested that Wendy should publicly apologize to Ericka live on the show, but I disagree. Having worked in television, I understand how important the wardrobe of anyone who appears on the air is. A small button with crazy stripes can take over the entire screen.

I can't imagine that Wendy Williams would ever do anything to hurt the gays! We're probably her second largest demographic.

"Mr. Black is Coming to La La Land?

So, hidden deep inside our fellow Blackbook Blogger Steven Lewis's recent column about Mr. Black's latest incarnation, we found this nugget. Mr. Black is going to have an L.A. presence! Mr. Black, in its original location in the Village, was one of our favorite places to go. It was a straight-friendly gay bar that always featured cutting edge music; it was just the right size, had a great soundsystem and featured a man in a top hat and little else. That space was busted in a questionable raid, and has moved around quite a bit since I left New York two years ago.

Starting in September, we will be able to get all nostalgic for the days when waiters gave us drinks wearing nothing but an apron and a top hat. Apparently, the Ass, who we once interviewed, has moved to the Best Coast where he is plotting the West Coast Mr. Black at Bardot on Tuesdays starting September 15. Though the Ass (known in the real world as Luke) will not be present here, it’s possible Luke will hire his successor, and so L.A. will be able to continue the tradition of getting their picture taken next to a bare bottom while being completely drunk.

Our estranged hubby, Mr. Black (real name: Stu), wrote us saying: “I would never dare try and do something in lalaland without someone who lives and breathes it, and Luke is the perfect person to produce the night. The night is slowly being conceived and all looks well.”

We look forward to (and will even drive to Hollywood for) it."
