Tell Russia: No Gay Gag Order

Tell Russia: No Gay Gag Order
**PLEASE GO HERE:  http://allout.org/en/actions/russia_call & SIGN YOUR NAME, IT TAKES TWO SECONDS TO HELP!!**

The Russian law to silence LGBT people is back -- and we need to act now. This Wednesday, officials in St. Petersburg's parliament could pass this horrific bill. Call your foreign affairs office now using the drop-down box on the right.

Lawmakers are about to vote on bill that will make it illegal for any person to write a book, publish an article or speak in public about being gay, lesbian, bi or transgender. And this is just the beginning - if the law passes in St. Petersburg, officials have threatened to take it nationwide.

Activists in St. Petersburg are rushing to organize a public protest against the bill, but no matter where you are, you can stand with them. Support them by calling your country's foreign affairs office now and telling them to use every means possible to stop this law from passing. If enough of us call, our countries' diplomatic pressure can help stop the vote before it happens.

Right now, the world needs to speak up and tell Russian authorities to drop this discriminatory gag order.

Nicki Minaj: "Of Course" We'll See a Gay Rapper

Nicki Minaj: "Of Course" We'll See a Gay Rapper

Nicki MinajABC/RICK ROWELL
Listen up, 50 Cent: Before you flood our Twitter feeds with 140 character coitus-disgustingus tales of all the tail you're getting, we're not talking about you. So lay off the TMI crap for a sec.
But we are gossiping about gay rappers—or if we'll ever seen one, that is.
We caught up with the fab fem rapper Nicki Minaj at the American Music Awards Sunday, and—since the glam gal has drummed up more attention to the hip-hop LGBT community than any act of late—we had to ask if she thought we'd see a homolicious rapper on the scene anytime soon:

"Of course, of course!" Nick gushed to us.
So what do we have to do? That is, to make it OK to spit some rhymes about pimping a penis?
"I think we just have to be open-minded," said Nicki, who's left tongues wagging with her seemingly ambiguous sexuality—she talks about smooching "bad bitches" and giving love to the fellas, but never clarifying exactly which way she swings.
"You know, we have to do what we do, and not worry about what they accept."
Got that, Fiddy?
'Cause remember, Mr. Cent threw a hip-hop hissy fit when out popstar Rufus Wainwright joked that he just knew 50 was gay and would like nothing more than to invite him over for a hot and bothered night chez Wainright. Or something along those lines.
And that's when 50 took to Twitter to ef and tell, grossing us out with gems like this: "Ok look I hurt my neck having rough sex. I haven't been my self lately. Lol"
And that's a tame one, trust.
Sure, we can be as open-minded as the next homeboy (or girl), but until 50 Cent and other stars on the scene drop the homophobic crap and realize that being gay doesn't have to hurt your street cred, the rap community is going to stay trapped in the closet—and that's not an R.Kelly quote. Don't even get us started on his sex life.
At least we've got gals like Nicki to help get the closet door open—even if it's just an itty, bitty bit. As she would say, That's fetch. Don't you think?

Gay Ice Cream

Ben and Jerrys Celebrates Marriage Equality in VT with 'Hubby Hubby'

Hubbyhubby

In April, Jon Stewart joked that Ben & Jerry's would be introducing the flavor Chubby Hubbies in honor of Vermont legalizing same-sex marriage. Now, with marriage equality laws going into effect, it appears that the ice cream maker has taken a cue from the Daily Show host. It's changing the name of their popular flavor "Chubby Hubby" to "Hubby Hubby" for the month.

Thanks

gawker says gaydar is dead

By The Cajun Boy

So you think you can spot a gay in the wild? Oh really! Because according to the New York Post, male sexual ambiguity is rendering mere mortals incapable of such callous judgmental accuracy. What exactly is this world coming to?!

Every few months it seems as though one or both of the New York City tabloids repackage this identical story — the lines are being blurred between what a straight man is and what a gay man is, blah blah blah — but this appears to be the first time that either one of them has gone all out and just flat-out declared gaydar to be dead.

The Post's Danica Lo laments:

From the sleekly coiffed power players on "Mad Men" to socialite-seducing lothario fashion designers, baseball player-branded perfume and hockey players interning at Vogue, it's getting harder to tell, on first impressions, whether a man would rather make out with you — or your brother.

In today's post-metro social consciousness, boys will still be boys — just more sensitive and stuff. A generation raised on therapy, teen flicks, reality TV and emoticons (it's hard to be butch and Twitter at the same time, you know?) has embraced the freedom of sexual ambiguity.

This maddening confusion leads Lo to the obvious(?) conclusion:

RIP, gaydar, we'll miss how you kept us from winking at the other team.

All of this leads one to wonder: what's wrong with just asking a guy if he's gay or straight? Lo mentions that doing such a thing is "awkward," but if a straight guy is comfortable with his sexuality, he won't mind being asked. In fact, he may even be flattered, and the same thing probably applies for the gays. And if the guy happens to freak out over having his sexuality questioned, then screw him, he isn't worth your time. So there, problem solved, right? Well, probably not, but it was worth a half-assed try.
